THE POSITION

Responsible for receiving and unloading supplies, materials, and equipment delivered to Interport via truck; for the efficient use of the warehouse space; and for completing and maintaining all necessary paperwork for items received into stock; all as directed by the Modification Shop Manager.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receive stock items for the Modification Shop and organize and place items as appropriate
  • Receive shipments and deliveries via various means and deliver items internally as appropriate
  • Ensure that goods received match purchase orders as to quantity, specifications, etc.
  • Pick and deliver orders as required in a timely manner
  • Keep warehouse area clean, neat, and organized, with all items sorted, segregated, and accessible
  • Maintain inventory and update stock levels in computerized system
  • Notify management of shortages or other problems that could impact inventory availability
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist in periodic complete physical inventory count
  • Work with internal and external resources to improve processes
  • Assist Modification Shop personnel with forklift as needed
  • Perform quality work, individually and as a team member, with and without direct supervision
  • Make economical use of tools, materials, parts, and supplies in the Modification Shop
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Participate in and adhere to Interport’s safety and compliance programs
  • Perform other duties from time to time, as required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential
  • Minimum one year’s experience working in a warehouse environment
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to quickly perform basic math (such as in conducting inventory counts)
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
  • Availability to work weekdays between the hours of 7:00am and midnight, on either a morning or afternoon shift (7am-3:30pm or 3:30pm – midnight), with occasional overtime hours including weekends
  • Ability to obtain OSHA required Forklift Certification within four months after date of hire
  • Ability to commute to Interport’s location in Newark NJ, with driving privileges in good standing
PREFERRED/PLUS
  • Experience in a computer-aided warehousing operation
  • Experience in container modification, metalworking, or equivalent field
  • Experience in forklift operation
  • Fluency in English and Spanish languages

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position and the hours of work are weekdays between the hours of 7:00 AMto 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime hours including weekends.
